Sofa bed or regular sofa — which should you choose for your Indian home? A practical guide to making the right decision.
A sofa bed gives you two pieces of furniture for the price of one — seating during the day, sleeping surface at night. A regular sofa gives you one thing, but does it exceptionally well. For most Indian buyers the choice is not obvious. This guide makes it clear.
For sitting: regular sofas win — they are optimised for one function and can prioritise seat depth, cushion height, and support without any compromise for a conversion mechanism. For sleeping: pull-out sleeper sofas with dedicated mattresses are reasonably comfortable for occasional use. Futon-style sofa beds are less comfortable for sleeping than a proper mattress but very practical for regular conversion.
The honest position: a sofa bed is a compromise in both directions. It is not as comfortable as a dedicated sofa for daily sitting, and not as comfortable as a proper bed for sleeping. It is the right choice when the compromise is worth it for the space and function it provides.

Futon-style sofa beds (like the Napoli and Istanbul) convert in under a minute with no mechanism to pull out. Pull-out sleepers take 2–3 minutes. 5-in-1 modular designs (Teddy Block) can be configured in multiple positions but may take slightly longer for the first configuration.
